The guard closed the door, leaving the proprietary crack.
“Good evening, …elder brother,” she set down her box, bowing.
Sesshoumaru glared into the garden, her presence unacknowledged since marrying into his family, weeks ago. Kagome smiled wistfully into the drifting snow.
“Years ago, with snow just like this,” she lifted the box’s heavy contents for one last perusal, “you gave me your pelt --- your feelings. Now, I must return your pelt,” she looked again to his rigid back, “--- our feelings.”
He remained silent. Finally, she bowed her leave.
Upon the threshold, she heard his resignation: “Dress warmly, …sister.”
