Sesshomaru leaned against the wall of the club, a bottle of beer gripped in one hand. He watched as Kagome belted out the last few notes of her band’s final song of the set. She jumped from the stage and was quickly swallowed by a swarm of the club’s standing room only patrons. Sesshomaru momentarily lost sight of her, but then she reappeared closer to the bar, her guitarist at her elbow. With a defeated sigh, Sesshomaru pressed his beer to his lips, draining the bottle, and slipped out the door. Another night spent in the shadows; another opportunity lost.
