He felt numb. Everything he’d thought would happen hadn’t. He hadn’t expected her to stumble across them, he hadn’t expected her to run away when he tried to explain and he hadn’t expected her to do this.
“That’s right Sesshomaru,” Inuyasha taunted, “Rin came to me willingly.”
‘No…’ he screamed in his mind. Why would Rin, the girl that had followed him without a question for years, even supported a relationship with him and Kagura, runaway from him because he chose to mate Kagome.
“Rin?” he asked. He didn’t love her like he would a mate, he loved her in her own way. It hurt him to know she didn’t want to be around him anymore.
“Sesshomaru… let’s go,” Kagome whispered beside him. He knew his mate was right, staying here and trying to get Rin to answer questions he knew she wouldn’t, wasn’t going to do him any good. They would need to go.
He nodded his head but kept his eyes trained on Inuyasha and Rin. Rin, the woman-child, clutched his half-brother’s haori. Tears streamed down her cheeks as she watched him with pained eyes. Those eyes made him numb.
Kagome tugged on his sleeve, telling him that they should leave now. Sesshomaru nodded again but this time followed the miko he’d claimed as his mate out of the cave. His mind was still trying to process this new piece of information.
“Sesshomaru?” Kagome asked. Sesshomaru’s eyes flicked to her face, taking in the scenery behind her. They were in the place that the group had set up camp in. The place where Rin had stumbled upon him and Kagome losing themselves to passion.
“Kagome… What did this Sesshomaru do wrong?”
“Mate… Rin loved you. She feels betrayed because you mated me and didn’t even think of her.”
