Five minutes had passed since the reading of the will and no one had dared yet to speak. Sesshoumaru sat, seething in silence. Even from the grave, his father had found a way to lay havoc to the carefully structured perfection of his life as he had done countless times before. The old man seemed to take sadistic glee in tormenting him, always finding new ways to undermine his ambitions. But this… this was beyond the pale, it was utterly diabolical. Surely they couldn’t expect him to fulfill such insane criteria to claim his due. It was utter madness!
“This is nuts!” The half breed leapt to his feet, dispersing the oppressive silence with a bellow of rage. “This isn’t some kind of damned race! “
The irate hanyou began to pace the length of their father’s office, his feet stamping in frustrated anger. “Well you can all go to hell ‘cause I ain’t gonna do it ya hear me! I’m not gonna drag Kikiyo into this crazy bullshit.”
Sesshoumaru’s irritation only grew as his half-brother worked himself up into a full blown tantrum. What the hell did the half-breed have to be so angry about? He hadn’t spent the past twenty years helping his father build an empire, only to have it snatched away by some mockingly ridiculous clause.
Was such a thing even legal? Surely such an asinine requirement could not be binding.
Squeezing the bridge of his nose he tried to whip his chaotic thoughts into some semblance of order. Things where definitely not going to be settled as quickly as he hoped. He would leave it up to his brother to explain the situation to his host, Kagome. He had more important things to worry about.
For once, Inuyasha had the advantage: He was already engaged.
