Kagome sat nearby, still and silent. All around her were the snarls and roars of the two men fighting ferociously for their place. She knew this wasn't just about her, she understood that she was Inuyasha's excuse -by challenging for her, he was also claiming his place in the hierarchy. They all knew the truth -that Sesshoumaru would completely and utterly destroy Inuyasha if this fight was about her. Inuyasha would never be satisfied with just stepping into place, he had to struggle for it and claim it. When Sesshoumaru inevitably won, Kagome cried for joy. Inuyasha was finally home.
