Threats of a Threat
Sesshomaru’s stride and demeanor told Kagome he was not happy with her, and she mentally cringed at the thought of the harsh words to come. Kagome was lucky, though, that Sesshomaru didn’t like making a scene in public. She wouldn’t get a tongue lashing until they got back to the house, so she had a little bit of time to prepare for it.
“What are you doing out here?” Sesshomaru growled as he approached.
“I was taking Frog for a walk.” Kagome replied, looking down at the puppy sitting in her lap. “Well, actually a ride.” Kagome added with a giggle.
“Let’s get you home before it starts to rain,” was all Sesshomaru said as he walked behind her wheelchair and started to push her.
Once they were halfway up the long drive to the house, Sesshomaru stopped and walked in front of her. “You’re supposed to have an escort when you’re out in public,” Sesshomaru growled, some of his anger released from the walk home.
“Don’t you think that’s a little ridiculous?” Kagome retorted. “There hasn’t been an attempt on my life since Hokkaido’s death.”
“Actually, that’s not true. There have been a couple.”
“And why did nobody even tell me about this?” Kagome asked.
“I had everything under control, and having Youkai guards, a threat could be eliminated before they got close to you.” Sesshomaru knelt down in front of Kagome, placing a hand on her cheek. “This is one of the reasons I wanted you to stay here. I think I’ve eliminated all the threats, but I’m not positive, so I would like it if you did not leave the house unescorted for Just a little while longer to be sure.”
Kagome sighed. “Fine. I don’t like it, but I’ll go along with it a bit longer.”
