A crimson droplet fell, spattering on the ground between them.
The miko sagged, tumbling to the ground in a whirl of raven hair, bow clattering uselessly at her side.
The demon lord wrenched the arrow from his sleeve and from the tree behind it, crushing the pointless projectile in his hand. She’d attempted to slow him down rather than kill him, regardless of his killing intent.
“Why?”
“We’re allies,” she asserted, even as she bled from the wound he’d inflicted.
This was why he hated her.
