Summary: Passing time trough the window of an English café and in the middle of it a growing attraction between two strangers

November

Everything started on average day, when English weather was showing its true colors. Like always, Kagome walked inside her favorite café, made short, but friendly conversation with the elder owner, placed her order and sat on her usual table. She was taking out her writing tools when the waitress brought her cup filled with lavender tea.

In that moment, she saw him.

The man sitting in the opposite table, working on his computer and drinking coffee. Kagome wasn’t sure how to explain it, he wasn’t her type (even if the man was undisputedly handsome with those long, shinning hair), and seemed like someone who couldn’t live without organizer, and yet, she felt spark.

The feeling caught her by surprise and before she managed to proceed them correctly, she noticed the man was looking at her. Blushing madly, she quickly dropped her eyes, trying to appear as uninterested as possible. The man shrugged, his eyes returning to his computer. The young woman sighed in relief, quickly getting to her own work, and trying not to look up to often.

Finally, after an hour the man stood up, putting on his coat. Kagome picked at him once again, catching the way his eyes rested on her. Since this time he was the one staring, the girl allowed herself to return his gaze.

Perhaps it was her imagination, but she could swear the mystery guy sent her small smirk, before he took his things and left the café.

For the rest of the day Kagome couldn’t focus on anything properly, to busy with thinking about an unknown man.

December

The Christmas time was everywhere the same. Kagome watched through the windows how people ran from shop to shop, leaving with growing bags. False Santa Claus stood before one of the malls talking to children and trying to convince their parents to shop in their center. Even her favorite café was filled with Christmas spirit, if the red ribbons, giant pine and smell of ginger were any indications.

With a sigh, the woman returned to her beloved tea and the article she was writing, when she was interrupted yet again. The café’s owner -Kate was standing next to her holding a tray filled with gingerbread man cookies. The woman smiled brightly.

“Just out from the oven. Try one.” Kagome cringed mentally, but not wishing to be impolite took one. The hostess walked to the next patron, leaving the girl to stare at her cookie.

“I don’t understand why they insist on making them with smiling faces,” she murmured unhappily. “I feel like I was about to commit cannibalism.”

A light chuckle was heart from the opposite table, her blue eyes quickly settled on the perfect face of the stranger man she met in November. This time he was reading some book, light smirk ghosting his lips. He was probably laughing at its contest. It was rather impossible he had heard her.

Wondering why that thought filled her with disappointment, the petite woman bit in her cookie, deciding to look at the unaware man.

After all staring wasn’t such a crime like eating something that reminded her of real human right?

For some strange reason Kagome felt, she was going crazy.

January

The New Year surprised everyone with a snow. The young woman looked happily how the small snowflakes fell from the sky to gently land on the cold ground. It was poetry in its purest form. It was pity, she was never a good poet or she would be able to create some piece of art today. Unfortunately, it seemed she was fated to write articles to the newspapers for the rest of her live.

‘Or I still can try to write that great novel I spoke of when I was a child.’ The problem was she didn’t really know about what that great novel should be. To put it simple Kagome needed inspiration.

The bell over door jingled announcing arrival of new patron. Kagome recognized him immediately. Pale skin, long hair, bright eyes. Her mystery man arrived once again to taunt her with his presence. It seemed he recognized her as well, since he nodded in her direction.

Feeling strangely warm, she bowed her head in reply, before taking sip of her tea. Perhaps inspiration she needed wasn’t that far away after all.

Sending sweet smile his way the girl turned back to the empty sheets of paper.

February

Valentines Day was even worse than Christmas. Pink, hearts and roses were everywhere and the worst thing were couples who on this day desperately wanted to go out. That was why Kagome stood in muted shock, watching kissing couple who sat on her usual table.

Would it be impolite to ask them to go away? Probably yes.

The girl’s heart sunk a little at the thought she would probably had to resign from her everyday cup of tea.

“The chair next to me is still free, if you want.” Kagome looked at the man who said that, her cheeks darkening in dangerous speed. It just couldn’t be.

The man smirked lightly, pushing said chair her way. It was offer she couldn’t refuse.

“Thank you,” she said bashfully, sitting down. The man smirked in reply.

“Do not mention that. I’m Sesshoumaru, by the way,” he introduced himself. Kagome replied automatically, still trying to understand what was happening. She was never the lucky type so how was it possible that she sat next to that gorgeous man she was watching for last few months?

“You always drink lavender tea. I’m curious why?”

“I just like it?” the woman replied lamely.

“Hnn.”

They sat in silence, looking at each other. Finally, Kagome couldn’t take it any longer.

“Why?” she asked. The man blinked, slightly confused.

“Why what?”

“Why this? This table? This day? Me?” Sesshoumaru smirked, taking small sip of his drink.

“Because, my dear, I waited 102 days, 2 hours and 53 minutes hoping you’ll take some action. When it didn’t happen, I decided to act. Now I have you exactly where I planned.” Kagome’s face brightened in charming smile.

“You mean across your table?” she asked playfully.

“That’s part of it.” The girl smiled again, taking her cup. The scent of lavender filled her senses. Perhaps, her novel would have happy ending, she mused looking at the man across the table.

The present was after all very promising.
