AN: This falls into the same “what if the jewel corrupted Kagome” concept that led to my submission for the Secret prompt, My Precious. For pos_sess_ed, because she asked for more and I just can’t say no to her.
It was the jewel that had bound them together... and it was that which ultimately ripped them apart.
Bloody hands covered her mouth to quell her rising gorge as the jewel’s keeper looked down on the body. Silver hair lay in scattered disarray, floating in a pool of blood that widened with every beat of his failing heart. She knew, not even he could recover from this.
Over the screaming of her heart, the jewel’s sibilant voice hissed reassurances: the threat was gone.
A snapping twig. A whispered accusation.
Whirling, she met the golden eyes of his brother... and broke.
