Sesshoumaru was still mourning the loss of his self confidence when they arrived at the building in which the marketing convention was to take place. It was crowded with both men and woman of all age in fancy business suits and spine straight postures. Many carried briefcases while others simply had a laptop cradled in their arms.
He smoothed a hand over his red tie and ran his fingers through his hair, wanting to make the most perfect impression upon all the other entrepreneurs. He represented one of the few top environmental technology companies in the world. That had been no small feat and he wouldn’t shame his company in any way.
Out of the corner of his eye, Sesshoumaru glanced at Kagome. She was standing beside him with a neutral look upon her face as she surveyed their surroundings critically. Once they had stepped inside the building, it was as though she had been replaced by another person entirely. Gone were her childish antics and her wide, sparkling eyes full of innocence.
This was a woman who took her job seriously and could differentiate between business and pleasure. Of course, they had been mixing in a healthy portion of both, but… no one needed to know that.
Kagome looked at the building map taped to one wall for instructions on where to go and what they needed. While she did so, Sesshoumaru made himself useful by fully examining the view of her from the rear. A lavender blouse, black pencil skirt, and black heels that made her legs appear longer and leaner.
Before his thoughts could travel any further beyond what was appropriate for business, he heard her voice.
“We’re supposed to go left until we reach the end of the hallway, then take a right,” Kagome said slowly, moving her finger along the map with precision. “Take the first right after that and it should be… the third room on the left.”
Sesshoumaru nodded and they proceeded to their destination while dodging the traffic flow that seemed to be coming from every direction. They came to a stop before the entrance and just beyond the door, a large amount of people had already taken their seats.
They simultaneously looked at each other.
“Ready?” Sesshoumaru asked.
Kagome nodded before replying, “Ready?”
“Hn.”
She smirked, then looped her arm through his as they entered.
“Then let’s get this over with.”
