Sesshoumaru sat a ways from the campfire, watching his ally and her romantic interest. The tension between Kagome and Inuyasha was palpable, as both were currently extremely miffed at the other. He slightly pursed his lips; instead of propelling the idiot hanyou into the miko’s arms and thereby proving to her that her overall good health-physical, mental, and emotional-was just as beneficial to her as it was to him, the two had quarreled immediately afterwards before descending into stony silence that left the other members of the group tiptoeing around the both of them. Even the ever-bubbly Rin was subdued tonight, and the notion displeased him greatly.
The taiyoukai had, in that spur of the moment, attempted to play matchmaker for the quirky miko, but it seemed that his impulsive plan had backfired spectacularly. He mentally huffed; he was in no mood to repair the damage that he had inadvertently caused. He eyed the female again, observing that every now and then, her grey eyes would glance his way when he was not watching. The moment he turned his gold eyes upon her, she would quickly look away, a rosy blush spreading across her cheeks.
Finally, he was unable to stand the uneasy quiet of the camp and stood. All eyes turned towards him at the abrupt movement, but he made no excuses as he headed towards the woods with a curt, “Stay, Rin.” Once past the barrier of the trees and beyond even the hanyou’s advanced eyesight, he shook himself out and stretched before facing the direction of camp. The miko had followed him; he had heard her mention that she wanted to talk to him privately.
She appeared in the dappled moonlight, steps hesitant until she came upon him, freezing at the sight of the taiyoukai.
