Summary: CU. Kagome can't quite place the rude visitor.

Frowning dubiously at the rust-bucket of a vehicle, Kagome glanced down at the hose she held in her hand dubiously; she’d given the little pile of rust a scrubbing the likes of which it had never seen, but, now that the suds made the little vehicle look like a half-melted snow-car, she was leery of rinsing it with the hose. With her luck, the doors would buckle under the water-pressure.

Turning the hose on, she turned back to the car and began to work on rinsing away the suds. The work was comforting, after all her adventures and death-defying deeds through the well, Kagome had learned to revel in the ordinary things.

Just as she was finishing up, feet stepped into her field of vision and, surprised, she spun with the hose, dousing her visitor. Quickly scrambling to turn off the spray, she smiled sheepishly at the man.

Stiff, starched and now dripping wet, her brown-haired visitor removed his spectacles, blinking dark lashes that were heavy with water droplets.

“Higurashi-san?” he asked quietly, imperiously.

“Higurashi Kagome,” she informed him, tucking a flyaway strand of hair behind her ear. “And I’m really sorry about that.”

He blinked once more, drying his glasses briskly. He didn’t smile; he just stared blankly at her. She smiled a little weakly and ploughed on.

“Was there something you wanted?”

“I’m from the school, your brother; Souta-kun didn’t attend his lessons today.”

A crease formed between her brows as she frowned. “Well, we called the school to tell them he was ill...”

His lips pursed. “Yes, and you too, Higurashi Kagome-san, were often ill. Does truancy run in the family?”

His uncalled for rudeness, made her recoil lightly. There was something about him that reminded her of someone... “I have no idea what my illnesses have to do with my brother catching tonsillitis,” she bit out.

The poised man appeared bored. Though his features were aesthetically pleasing, his personality was like being doused in ice-water.

“Indeed. But your illnesses were prolonged... some of them you should never have recovered from.”

Kagome’s temper ignited and yet, at the same time, she felt a little sheepish. “I have nothing to do with my brother’s attendance record...” she snapped waspishly. His lips curled in a creepy parody of a smile. “W-what did you say your name was?” she asked, suddenly uncertain.

The smile widened creepily. “You know.”

“... Sesshoumaru?”
