How is this fair:
My friend is having open heart surgery, and wants his sister from Romania to stay with him while he recovers. He submitted a notarised affidavit of support and a letter from his doctor/surgeon describing the procedure and the issue (atrophied valve, clogged arteries, and damaged aorta), and the US State Dept. turned down the request. Yet, this country has Hispanics and Chinese out the wazoo! Not that I have a problem with immigrants, on the contrary I love them, but why deny someone entry when they are going to help someone recover from a very involved surgery, and the person is family anyway? And it's not like Romania is a war-torn country, or a country ridden with disease and famine. On the contrary, it's soon to be a new EU member state, and the European country with the most economic growth this past year.
One has to ask: WTF?
