Over at Rimfirecentral.com, forum member SQUAWSACH has posted his latest custom rifle stock. It's a beautiful project, and a testament to his skill and experience with woodwork and finishing.
The project began with a rough blank of silver maple. The stock was cut and shaped to include a raised cheek piece, then inletted to fit a bolt-action rifle ( specifically a Glenfield 25 action w/27" tapered octagon barrel and Lyman sights.) Finally, the wood was repeatedly sanded and rubbed with a 9 coats of a 60/40 mixture of Tru-Oil/mineral spirts.
EDIT: Oh yeah, here's how it shoots. The top is a 3-shot group, the bottom is 5. Not bad, huh?
