Don't mess with an armed eagle

Ithaca shotguns used to be manufactured out of Ithaca, NY. Later, the operation moved to Kings Ferry, NY. Now, the company has risen again, this time in Upper Sandusky, Ohio. The most popular Ithaca was and is the Model 37 shotgun, designed in 1915 by His Holiness John Moses Browning, patron saint of firearms and father of the American boomstick. In 1931, Harry Howland of the Ithaca company further improved upon the design. The Browning patented bottom-eject feature makes it an easy gun for right- or left-handed shooters since the empty casings are never ejected near the shooter's face, regardless of handedness. Ithaca began manufacturing and selling the Model 37 in 1937.

Each shotgun was hand-delivered to the owner by a majestic bald eagle, as depicted on this 1976 catalog cover.
