Wicked Faire IV

Feb 23, 2009 16:56

Going to Wicked Faire this past weekend was probably one of the best decisions I've made in a while. When spookyhandle told me about WF, I thought it sounded awesome, but I didn't think I could go so I tried not to look at it too much. spookyhandle's post in her LJ begging crash space for me resulted in my being able to go, and I can't thank her enough ( Read more... )

I worked to get free admission, but I will not be doing so again next year, there's just too much stuff I want to see and do.

An alternative is to work with an act. White Elephant performers and tech get free admission, for example. We're usually not hurting for tech (our shows being relatively simple, prop-wise), but you'd be more than welcome on the crew for any shows we're not overstaffed at. I mean, assuming you don't wanna prance onstage in a state of undress, which would also be awesome. ;) You'd have to be onhand for the shows and for call, but it probably gives you much more free time than working security.

...I could see the fucking hotel, I just couldn't get to it because New Jersey is the land of No Left Turns. You're right; we do it just to make outsiders angry ( ... )

Oh, and because it may not be clear from my profile, this is Michael, of Michael-Genevieve-Danielle. You crashed on my couch on Night 1, and we hit the pub on Saturday for beer and cheeseburgers.

Thanks for that. I sort of knew who it was b/c Shannon helpfully posted all of your LJ username in her post.

I would love to tech for you guys, but I'm not quite sure how that would work with me being all the way down here. No thanks to the taking off the clothes *chuckle*, I'm sure I could dance, but I don't think I have the tits.

Frantic and aggressive is a perfect description of my state of mind, lol. You should have seen me when we stopped for gas on Friday, I was so confused and irritated that I had to wait for my gas. Something that takes me 5 minutes took twice as much time, and I didn't particularly like handing my card over and not being able to watch the person while they swiped it.

In VA you can buy wine and beer anywhere, but you have to buy liquor from the ABC (alcoholic beverage control) stores run by the state. This means that there is no competition in liguor prices, Ever. We also have the lovely law that says you're not allowed to be just a bar, you have to serve food which makes up something like 20% of your sales. This means that most of our bartneders are crabby b/c not only are they serving drinks, they're also making

It's a bit of a secret, but White Elephant actually embraces a wide variety of body types. If you could pull together a creative and decently executed act, I'm sure you'd be welcome to perform at an event. Feel free to drop Genevieve and George a line; they're used to coordinating via email and video when necessary. As for tech, just let me know if you'd like to go to an event we're gonna be at (Willow Shannon may be going to the Rochester Erotic Art Festival with us, for example), and I'll see if we have space on the crew. If there's room for another comped techie, I'd be more than happy to sign you up ( ... )

I'm not much for taking my clothes off in front of large audiences, but I appreciate thethought that I look good enough to do so :-)

I'll be working with Willow to try and get up to the erotic arts festival. My father-in-law lives in Rochester so we might not even need to worry about a hotel room. So yes, I'd be interested in teching for that.

I think I would be a very sad person if I didn't have non-mainstream beer. Fortunately we have a bunch of good beer places here.
