Changmin decided there should be a saying that when you can’t remember the names of your plants, you’re really getting old.

Junsu was better at it, maybe because he’d memorised lines and lyrics for most of his life. He remembered more things quicker. Also, he still smiled the way he did 60 years ago, with that twinkle in his eyes every time he called Changmin a grumpy old man and Changmin still managed to come up with a new retort.

Yes, Junsu was strong. Was... had been. The pneumonia had been stronger.

Changmin fumbled with his phone. Yoochun’s grandchildren laughed at the old model, but an old phone was perfect for an old person, he told them.

It was a good phone, strong, he’d bought this model because Junsu was right about him being a bit stingy.

He had high hopes that at least this would outlive him, his phone, and the memories it contained.

( Day One. You’ve actually been gone for almost a week now, but I count this as the first day because today it really feels like you’re not here anymore. }

( I watered the plants (what did we call them again?) and fed your cat and then I didn’t have anything else to do. I think I just sat in my chair and looked out the window. }

( That’s not very interesting or funny, is it? You don’t need to know. }

( You better be getting these messages though. When I told them to bury you with your phone, they looked at me like I’d lost it. If they put me in a crazy old people home for this, I blame you. }

( But it’s okay. I know it’s important to you, to know if I’m still alive. }

( I am. }

( Day Two. }

( Junsu }

( I miss you }
