I went home to go visit my family because my aunt and uncle from California were coming up. I thought they were arriving on Saturday so I had my train come for Friday so I'd already be home. I wore minimal makeup because really who needs makeup on a train. I got a LOT of knitting done and a LOT of reading done. Neal picked me up at the train station and when we got home my family was already there! They were just about to open some wine for the ladies and malt whiskey for the gents.
I had such a great time with them. All the adults were drunk. I had to carry my mom to bed. lol She's adorable when she's drunk. It only took 1 glass of wine.
My aunt and uncle stayed up late with me and Neal because they were like "it's been 10 years, we want to know what you guys are up to now." They wanted to get to know us, to really know us with some substance. I told them about classes, my living situation, Oxfam. Neal told them about work, the kind of things he does for work, his promotion, etc.
I talked to my older cousin on the phone. Haven't talked to him in 10 years either. He's told me to come to grad school in LA. Tempting but I want to stay in Canada. My dad showed me photos of my other cousin's kids. I got stories/news of what everyone is up to. It was wonderful. And I didn't fight with anyone all weekend. Perfect. :)
Yesterday I got driven back, with an abundance of food. I spent the rest of the day cleaning like a fiend. My room was filthy, I reorganized it. I made a bit of space for my guitar. I brought it up. I want to re-learn but nothing amazing. Just want to pluck at some strings every now and again.
I also decided that I WANT a bean bag chair for my room. I don't know where I can find one. :( Maybe I will look around at the mall.
Oh, and I got a new cell while I was at home. Another hand me down actually but it's a pretty good phone. The only problem is that I can only send 140 character texts. That's as long as a tweet. Not impressed, Samsung. Text is my primary mode of communication. When Nik gets back from Vancouver I'm going to ask him to get me the Futurama theme as a ringtone.
I miss that boy. He flies back to Toronto tomorrow night. I doubt he'll drive back immediately after. I don't think I will see him until Wednesday. I'm excited, I want to see him again.
Gotta meet my co-project director for Oxfam in a little while. Our campaign proposal is due today, we need to pull it together and get it to Court. Afterwards I think I'm going to get a new tube of henna and give myself a design that goes from my fingertips to my elbow.
