Interesting posts. Hadn't heard of these people before. Wonder how their AMVs turned out.
Hmmm.... the earliest ones I'd gotten to see were back in '91 done by Corn Pone Flicks and/or Jigoku No Video. Think I remember seeing C-ko's stuff at that time.
I actually did manage to track down both Matthew Sweet music vids, though the "Girlfriend" / Cobra one wasn't that hard to find. :p
Give Mimi me regards, if ye could.
Oh, look at my LJ. Sounds like you could tell me which older vids would be good to use in a panel on classic AMVs.
Not even Carl Horn? He's been to AWA, right? I recognize a few other names... Tatsugawa used to chair AX, and I have a tape of Ed Sum's videos somewhere. I tend to forget about Corn Pone since I usually associate them with parody.
Hmm, I'd show Engel and Captain Nemo, since they were hugely popular at the time. Maybe Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic... hmm...
Oh I know Carl and know of Mike Tatsugawa. I'd meant the people who were the creators themselves.
Hmmmmm.... never been a big Engel fan but I guess you;re right. It did hentertain at least. Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic isn't one I remember. Who was it / what anime did they use?
I always loved the "Don't Stand so Close to Me" to Homeroom Affairs... that one's at least 14 years old. And Matt Murray's "Entropy" if you're looking for early circulating stuff...
Off-topic, but it's my journal so... :D Have you heard of Total Drama Action?
Also, your mystery movie (I'm pretty sure what it is) played at a theatre here last month, but it was during the bus strike so I wasn't really going anywhere at the time.
