Q. Can I claim a pairing?
A. No. We leave that to
1sentence, the community that started this whole idea.
Q. I don't understand the combo of character/theme limit.
A. We have five theme sets. That means that five different people could, say, write Captain Jack Sparrow at the same time in completely different ways. Essentially, we're saying that there may be up to five versions of a character in the community at one time, provided they are all doing separate theme sets. That's why it's important to read
the claim list.
Q. Can I reserve something if I'm not ready/sure I want to take it?
A. No, sorry. Because we give you three months to write fifty sentences, and because the same character can be taken more than once, we don't allow people to reserve.
Q. Can I write an original character?
A. Yes! The character doesn't need to be affiliated with any fandom. Or they could be an OC created within the confines of a specific fandom.
Q. Can I write alternate versions of a canon character?
A. For right now, no. If we get a high demand for this sort of thing, we may reconsider.
Q. What about real people?
A. I'm not a big fan of it, and it's not my cup of tea, but I can't really stop you if that's what you're into.
Q. Is adult content allowed on this site?
A. Yes, so long as it is clearly marked and anything explicitly violent or sexual is placed within a cut. Mods have final discretion over this, and if you're asked to place something behind a cut, please do so.
Q. Can I write more than one at a time?
A, Characters: sure! You're allowed to have up to three characters active at a time. You can't, however, write more than one theme set at a time with the same character.
Q. So I can't post until I complete my claim? What about in my own journal?
A. You can post as you'd like to your own journal. We just ask that you keep it all in one entry here, to avoid cluttering peoples' friend lists.
Q. Do I need to have some kind of separate journal made for my character?
A. No. We know that a lot of people have character journals which are used in other prompt and roleplaying communities around livejournal. They're, of course, welcome to use those here. But if you don't have one of those, or if you have a multi-character journal, you're still welcome to join.
Q. Can I have the table code?
A. We guess, if you want. You don't really need it. Though a lot of challenge communities provide you with the table codes, they do so because your responses can be posted one at a time, and the tables are used as an index. Here, you post all 50 responses in one entry, so there's no need for an index. However, if you really really want the code for your own journal, email and let us know.
Q. I know I can't claim a pairing, but can I write about one in some of the responses?
A. Absolutely. The main focus of this community is a single character, but all characters have relationships. As long as the majority of your sentences aren't about a specific pairing, you're free to write what you'd like.
