Suspect X was a fantastic show, and in my opinion, had one of the best scripts in recent years.
The intricacy of the plot coupled with fantastic direction really nailed it for me. While the usual detective movies make you guess who the murderer is, and if there is a twist, the twist would be that the murderer was someone whom you least expect, (though with that formula, you'd just have to guess who has the least suspicion) Suspect X twisted the entire dynamics - the killer and the victim were revealed from the start and its the process that is intriguing. For the first time, you'd really emphathise with the murderer and secretly hope that he'd pull off his stunt, plus it makes you think more into the way society works.
And then on the same weekend, i went to catch Departures, another fantastic movie. Am so glad i went to catch the show! The movie was shot with a lot of dignity, and the style was very much innnately...Japanese. I could hear a lot of sniffing in the cinema throughout the show ;)
i think only the Japanese can portray such delicate intricacy of human relations. Hooray for Japanese movies!
And last weekend, i went to catch CheerChen's performance at the SIS. Her voice is still solid as always...i think she can dominate the stage with just her voice and guitar alone. The effects were fun and all, and the crowd went mad...we were all standing on chairs after the first half...and there were like a total of five encores! Though i still think the concert will be better if the orchestra was there ;P
