Reflections 2008
2008 has been a tumultuous year of sorts for the world.
Snow storms, floods, terrorism, political tensions, economic crisis, and of course a change in the occupant of the white house.
Makes one wonder if apocalypse is really coming.
But for now, we will just have to live life as it is, and savour every breath of air we take in.
Overall, 2008 has been a rather fulfilling year on a personal level. The five most memorable events of the year:
1. My newly regained 6/6 eyesight thanks to lasik.
2. Getting a driver's licence, albeit only on the second attempt, thanks to my fumbling on my first.
3. Started something which i have always wanted to learn - keyboard. Plus bought my very own digital piano at that.
4. Making good my promise to go to Perth to visit Shayle after donkey years.
5. Spending Xmas eve in Macau, and counting down to the new year in Taipei. No 101 fireworks, nor flashy concerts, but we had a company of good friends and super long sparklers. Aside, Ah Lian is now known as TongLing, and is now happily married. =)
Job wise, i am still happy with the agency, still v much in awe of my bosses, so indeed a pretty hopeless case.
And then there were the heartaches.
Early this year, some of us went to tpe to attend ah zheng laoshi's funeral. How some can struggle so much to live, only to die, and how some can carelessly speak of life, i cannot fathom. Life is just never fair.
And just two weeks ago, my uncle had to fly back from jpn to get emergency medical treatment, and was later diagnosed with a hardening of the liver. How it occurred so suddenly, i don't know as well.
And amongst all the happenings, happy or sad, i somehow counted down to the new year and somehow stumbled into 2009. Moving on, i guess what i can do is just to 努力的生活, 然后用力的奔跑。
