Tea tree or Melaleuca alternifolia, grows in Australia and is widely used as an antiseptic, antifungal, and in some cases, an antiviral treatment for a number of problems. Used externally, tea tree oil can cure you of many different ailments.

Tea tree oil can cure warts. Place a drop or two of tea tree oil onto a band-aid and apply it to the wart. Keep a band-aid soaked in tea tree on the wart at all times for at least two months. Change the bandage as needed. The wart should start to disappear almost immediately.

Prevent mold by making a spray of vinegar and tea tree oil. Spray it in the affected moldy areas and wipe the area well. A heavier application of tea tree will prevent mold from growing back in the future. Be careful when using tea tree on furniture and textiles.

Use tea tree oil as an antiseptic when treating wounds. Clean the injured area with soap and water, then dry with a clean cloth. Apply tea tree oil and bandage if necessary. Tea tree oil does not burn like alcohol or peroxide.

Tea tree oil can be used to treat second degree burns. Gently wash the burn with soap and water and dry with a clean cloth. Apply tea tree to the affected area and bandage very lightly if necessary. Tea tree will act as an antiseptic and will help burns heal more quickly.

To treat athlete’s foot, wipe the affected area twice a day with tea tree oil on a cotton ball until the infection disappears.

Some women use tea tree oil to cure yeast infection. The skin inside the vagina is extremely sensitive, so only a minute amount of tea tree should be used. Douche with a mixture of one drop tea tree oil per one cup of water. You can use this up to three times a day. If the mixture burns or causes irritation, you may be oversensitive to it and should stop using it immediately.

For a wonderfully effective deodorant, mix one part salt and one part baking soda into a fine-misting spray bottle filled with water. Add this mixture until the baking soda and salt will no longer dissolve into the water. Add witch hazel if desired at one teaspoon witch hazel extract to ¼ cup water. Add tea tree oil at four or five drops per ¼ cup water. Shake well before each use.

If you have stinky feet, the above recipe can also be sprayed directly onto your skin and also inside your shoes. Use once daily or as needed. This fabulous mixture also makes an excellent mouthwash and gargle. If you like, you can add two or three drops of lavender oil to the deodorant or foot mixture for scent and added antibacterial properties. A few drops of mint essential oil can be added to the mouthwash for taste.

One drop of tea tree essential oil can be added to your toothbrush to give your mouth a clean fresh feel. It will also kill odor-causing bacteria.

Tea tree oil can be used to treat pimples. Use a cotton swab to dab it full-strength onto pimples. A drop of tea tree oil in your soap while washing your face can help to prevent new pimples from coming up in the future.

Tea tree oil effectively kills ringworm. Apply tea tree full-strength to the affected area twice daily until the fungus is gone. Ringworm may take two to four weeks to disappear but will not spread if it is treated.

Nail fungus is also treatable with tea tree oil. Rub a drop of the mixture into each nail and all around the nail bed once daily to kill the fungus. Make sure your nails are also getting regular amounts of sunlight to keep them from getting infected again.

Tea tree oil is powerful enough to treat a minor staph infection. Use up to 2 weeks after the infection is gone to make sure it does not return. If the infection returns or if it spreads or seems unaffected by the treatment, see a doctor immediately.

Tea tree oil can be purchased online, in some drug stores and grocery stores, and in almost all natural food stores. Be sure that the package says 100% tea tree oil or “essential oil.” Always be careful to keep tea tree away from your eyes and do not use full-strength inside the mouth, on the lips, or inside the vagina. Some people may be sensitive to tea tree oil so if you notice a reaction, you should stop using it immediately.
