JOE LIEBERMAN CRITICIZES NINTENDO CORP., CALLS FOR PRODUCT RECALL
Tennifly, New Jersey.
While on the campaign trail, democratic nominee hopeful Joseph Lieberman condemned the Nintendo Corp. declaring that is "has contributed to several hunting accidents a year, and countless illegal duck slayings."
Lieberman stated that the 1986 release "Duck Hunt" on the Nintendo gaming console is responsible for increased duck hunting tragedies. "First of all," he was quoted saying, "Duck Hunt makes it seem like anyone can go out and hunt, when in reality, one must receive permits and be in designated areas.
"In addition, the gun used in the game makes children think that it is ok to shoot at surrounding people. When handed a real gun, Jimmy Sloan, age four, from West Virginia, shot his brother and mother, Jimmy later told the police that all he expected was for 'a dog to laugh' at him."
Lieberman called for "the madness to be stopped now" and "Duck Hunt to be shelved forever." His support is minimal and Nintendo's only comment was "schmuck."
After his speech, Lieberman headed straight to a bon-fire fueled by rap albums and Chuck Palanuik novels.
