Man I like Glee, but it bugs the hell out of me that they dub in a chorus about three times the size of the actual club. I've been in a lot of choirs, in middle school my honor choir even went to a choir competition. I don't know how they do it in Ohio, but ours was a lot more about the singing and less about costumes and dancing. Cause it was a choir competition. I'm pretty sure that at real competitions they have a dress code.
So Neil Patrick Harris was awesome. Anyone else think he should be a recurring character and maybe hook up with Sue and/or Terry? I liked that he was basically Dr. Horrible.
Lady Gaga ep. I love Kurt and I love his dad. There was that big blow up where Finn got kicked out and then...nothing really happened to resolve that. I mean, yeah, Finn defended Kurt from some bullies but he's done that before a gazillion times. I'm not sure what made this time different enough for Finn to get over it. Finn is kind of a slow learner. And then Regionals happened and everyone sort of forgot about it. Also while Bad Romance was pretty good, what was up with Poker Face? It was just weird. First off the bouncy upbeat remix was bizarre, secondly making it into a duet between Rachel and her estranged mother was kind of disturbing. "I'll get him hot, show him what I've got." Or "Russian Roulette is not the same without a gun." I know those lyrics make me think of my mother. I appreciate the urge to do theme episodes but maybe they could make an exception so that a potentially touching moment doesn't turn super weird on the audience. Also I thought it was just a little odd that the "boys" thought doing Lady Gaga was too gay so they decided to dress up like KISS instead. I get it, much more hetero.
Then there was Funk, where none of the songs were particularly funky. Also Will was mean to Sue. But I love that her dress up date outfit is a track suit with pearls. Always classy.
Hey, do Rachel's gay dads ever actually make appearances on the show? I skipped a couple episodes after winter hiatus when it was getting too Peyton's Placey. But we've seen Finn's Mom, and Puck's Mom (who was awesome), and Kurt's Dad and Quinn's horrible parents and possibly others that I'm forgetting. We've seen the guy that Shue's ex wife works with at least twice. But Rachel is the main character (much as we'd love to see a tad less of her) and she's always talking about her dads. And it's kind of starting to feel like a punch line. "We don't know which one is my actual dad." "My dads saved a ridiculous amount of my baby crap." "My dads love show tunes and entered me in crazy pageants as an infant." "Rachel's dads called the school because she feels like she's being discriminated against." The show is so queer it's like a little mini-pride each week, so why are these two guys constantly off screen?
The whole show is so saccharine and every character is a token and the whole thing is a feel good after school special. Confound it all I love it though.
On an unrelated note, I really hate the smell of Febreze.
