Ok, so for my final project for ass-class we have to do a story about a haunted house (it being that special time of year and all...). So I had a couple ideas for a story, but one was too complicated and the other felt too much like plaguerism (although it is the backbone of my current school. Damn you Logger Handbook!)
Anyway, I really should have started this a couple weeks ago, but I had nothing, so too bad. Now I have a concept that should be straightforward and best of all, short, but I don't know how the whole story goes.
Basically, I have decided to take Professor Asshole at his word, and make it about a haunted house. I can't come up with a good title, because I never can, but it's subtitle is An Exercise in Anthropomorphism.
The story is thus, a Haunted House (played by the Addams Family Mansion, which is probably some sort of copyright infringement, but too bad) has fallen in love with an Enchanted Castle. All the House's friends advise it to forget the Castle and settle down with that nice Mausoleum down the road, maybe raise a little Cemetary... but the House persists and sends the Castle stalkerish love notes every day (delivered by bats or ghosts or something). But the Enchanted Castle isn't interested in the Haunted House, a mysterious Abandoned Factory that periodically exudes strange noises and flashes of light has caught the fancy of the Enchanted Castle.
Aaannnndddd...that's about as much as I've got. The animation will have me narrating, and the visuals will consist mostly of pans and swooshes across the relevant landscape. The "characters" will be cutouts of the various buildings and they may move around a bit, perhaps heave a sigh, ect, but they'll be pictures of buildings. No cartoon eyes or doors for mouths or any of that sort of thing.
To impress the Castle the Haunted House lets cobwebs and vines accrew. The House has low self esteem because the Castle is full of ensorceled royalty and living statuary, the Factory (again) has those weird lights and, rumor has it, an evil scientist producing monsters that defy natural laws. All the Haunted House has is a crazy old hag and some ghosts.
So my question for you, my friends list, is how should this story end? I had a thing about the Castle and the Factory getting together and producing an army of magic robots but that's probably a little weird and off topic.
Should the Castle hook up with the Factory and leave the Haunted House sad and alone and eventually be torn down by its own vines? Should the Castle cruelly spurn the House only to have its curse ironically lifted and lose the affections of the Factory? Should the House decide (as it feels the vines pulling its roof apart) that it is ridiculous to go to such lengths for someone else and that it is self fulfilled on its own? Should the House eventually be purchased as a fixer upper by a young couple just starting out who prune the vines, chase out the spiders and bring the dead trees back to life?
What works best? I want to be able to tell this story in high fairy tale style (a la the beginning of Beauty and the Beast). Also since it's a Haunted House, I'm not sure what the proper happy ending should be (if I give it a happy ending at all). I need opinions!
As they say in Elite Beat Agents,...HELP!!!
