I want to be Tentacle Pope

Sooo, just spent this afternoon watching the new Futurama feature "The Beast With A Billion Backs." A spoiler you could get from looking at the cover; it's about a giant tentacle monster. The tagline is that it, "Puts the 'ick' in Science Ficktion." It does indeed. The whole thing was just sort of unendingly icky. Also hilarious. I like it much better than the first Futurama feature (though I enjoyed that thoroughly as well, except for teh disappointingly bad songs). Also the special features were dorkily kickass, though I don't know how much anyone who is not currently an animation student would enjoy them. But yes, it left me thoroughly amused and feeling like I needed a shower.

Also saw Dark Knight at the IMAX. It was educational! Very good film, though not solid gold as most reviewers would have you believe. I was soundly chastised by my school chums for saying too many true things about it without saying enough glowing things about it. It left me with two questions. Why the hell would anyone want to live in Gotham? They should all just move to Metropolis, it's much less crazy there, Lex Luthor notwithstanding. Also, why can't anyone make a good Superman movie? Though of course if anyone had taken as many cracks at Superman films as they have at Batman films maybe we'd be getting closer. I mean sure Superman Returns was flawless, but neither was it Batman and Robin.

In semi-related news, my school will not let me not take stupid high school equivalency classes. Since nobody in the entire world cares if you have one B.A., let alone two, I have decided to screw the degree and just take the classes that will get me a job. I already have a very expensive education, I do not need another. What I need is to 3D render and draw and make charming, adorable films with a biting edge and a style inspired by Kandisnky. I went kinda crazy at Half Price books yesterday. For my Drawing Naked People For Four Hours class we needed anatomy references, so I bought two plus a book on Art Deco and one on Kandinsky. One of the references is very good but from the 50's. All the models are lit weirdly to obscure their areas. I shoudl say the female models are light weirdly. Most (but not all) of the male models are wearing crotch pouches and figleaves to obscure their junk. There are pages of guys in Phantom of the Opera masks and these bizarre crotch protectors that look like they're made from the same dimestore plastic. Also there's some rascist stuff in the back about the various facial charateristics of various ethnic groups. But it's still a really good reference.

Also, week after next there will be a Vegas Vacation! Woo! Family vacation, but still. It will be fun in the sun, mediocre food, tacky shows and neon and the melodious jingle of slot machines and video poker. Also this will be the first family vacation I've been included in since my sophmore year of high school. So that's nice. Anyway, I really need to get back to homework. My assignment is to draw a happy bowling wolf. You heard me. In quest of said wolf I have filled many pages of my sketch book, but the closest I have come was a frustrated horse changing his shoes with a crowbar. I may turn that in instead. We'll see. Anyway, back to the ol' drawing board.
