Friday I was setting up a training session for Indy in our front field (she's at a CKC Hunt Test yesterday and today...it's been a long time since she did that particular stuff, and she needed a refresher).
So... I'm standing in waist high oat grass and suddenly I see this ...thing...bounding straight towards me through the grass. Same reddish colour as my mother's little dog that we're babysitting, Sandy, but...too large! And pointy ears? Red fox? Noo....too large!
On every *bound* above the grass, it intentionally changes course towards me. Then I see the spots. A faun, frantically running towards the only thing that looks like mom...big ol' dogteam in his tan hunting shirt. I thought it might run right into me.
A yard away, I say "Hey babe, what's up?". Without stopping, the faun sticks it's tongue out at me and makes a "Phtttb" noise and keeps running. It circles me twice and then heads for the pond at the back of the property.
I hope it finds it's real mom.
