I always enjoy visiting the Tate website or viewing their videos on youtube. The Brits seem to "accept" contemporary art a lot more than Americans, I think they see it as a sort of pop culture.
For example the Tate does an excellent job in promoting contemporary art to the youngsters, with videos like these, the Art Sparks.
I was surprised to see them cover
Sophie Calle, and the work they covered was also a bit controversial, interesting though. I remember reading about this work in a book but it took this video for me to really understand it haha, they put it so simply that's why.
I was happily surprised to see
Francis Bacon covered too and it gives a great message as well.
I highly recommend
these videos, even though they're geared for children they're actualy pretty insightful and thought provoking. Complexity isn't always needed, sometimes simplicity is what speaks the clearest.
Also congratulations to Greg for winning the Go tournament! Make Hawaii/USA proud in Japan!
