This is where the penny drops..
Twas a fine day for hockey, not too cold, a sunny afternoon and a week where we actually had enough players to have reserves on hand.
Then we satered playing. it was pretty clear that our opposition was older, stronger, faster, fitter and more skillful. We had heart, and showed it, but we were just overrun at times. So it goes.
Then to make matters worse, one of our forwards (
sf_dtail_49, you know who I'm talking about), on a hopeful looking forward movement, fell while hitting and apparently made to roll on impact with the ground. What wasn't part of the plan was the mound over the edge of the field which resulted in the earth meeting his roll quicker than expected. I'm told people 20 meters away could her the sound of his collarbone breaking. Very bad luck.
So in the end we ended up 0 - 8 losers, but to be honest, we could have seen it coming.
Onward to next week...
