One aspect of my parents visit is that we can introduce them to the many fun things you can do with a Nintendo Wii. So last night my father and I boxed. I find it interesting that I am the skilled computer game player and he is, at least from his youth, the skilled boxer, and in this virtual console game war he wins. He jabbed, he gut punched, he knocked me down a number of times. Gaming is moving into an arena where real life skills are more important than tradtional joystick skills. I'm screwed.

Also, in Wii bowling my father's technique is just as full of flourish as his real bowling technique, which includes a post release leg jut manoeuvre that would impress even the most limber of ballroom dancers.

On Monday I took them out to Plum Island. It was a beautiful sunny day so some beach time was had. My mother read in the sun while my father and I searched for wildife - he is an avid birdwatcher whereas I couldn't tell a Great White Egrit from a Blue Heron until the differences were pointed out to me.
