Title: How My Heart Existed in Another Person's Body
A/n: This is dedicated to my other half,

He didn’t know how he ended up like this, it happened somewhere along in middle school, maybe, when he became a helpless nerd.
Inukai sat alone in the library, by the window because the sun always felt nice at this time of the day. He was glad to be alone; there were no annoying chatters of the students who pretended to study just so they could stay in the library for the air conditioning.
He pushed up his glasses. His laptop was on the table, whirring from use. He leaned back in his chair, his back aching and surprisingly his hips. He had been sitting too long it seemed.
He sighed; he was stuck in writing this chapter. And whenever he looked back at his writing, whenever he looked at how his characters acted, there was always something wrong.
What he needed was advice, and so taking advantage of the wireless internet, he logged on in his favourite writing forum. He leaned forward as he checked his mail, all useless compliments and ass-kissery, he thought. Friend requests, spam mail, he deleted them before proceeding with his original intent. He clicked on the icon for his friends’ list, to check if his only friend in the forum was online. He sighed in disappointment when he saw the little box beside his friend’s name was red.
He licked his lips over and over again, thinking of whether or not to bother his friend. They’ve never really met offline before, but he always felt sort of comfortable chatting with him online, talking about their ideas. And when his day was unbelievably miserable, he felt the weight in his chest lift with just the simple words his online friend would say.
Inukai gulped, his decision was to just log out off and maybe mope in the library for inspiration to strike, but he heard a ping from his laptop and almost cheered when he saw why that was.
au_gold: hey there. :p Ping me next time when you get on
Inukai gasped at the screenname before biting the back of his palm to keep quiet his laughter.
ag_silverdog: Oh my god, change your display name. Stop copying me, be original for once.
au_gold: nah, i kind of like it. we match. :D
ag_silverdog: If you’re just going to tease me about my screen name, maybe I shouldn’t have gone online in the first place.
au_gold: hey man, hey, i kid. so, what brings you here at this time of the day? your usually online later. watsup?
ag_silverdog: I think…
ag_silverdog: …
ag_silverdog: Wait a minute, don’t you still have classes? Why are you online? Get back to work, you slacker!
[au_gold is now offline]
Inukai couldn’t help the smile that settled on his lips. “Huh.” With the tick tack of the keys, he typed down a message for his friend.
ag_silverdog: I bet you got caught again. //evil cackle// Message me when you’re home, alright?
He shut his laptop down. He let out a breath of air, and he felt nicer somehow. He decided that he should just head home for the day.

Inukai carried a plastic bag in one hand and his school bag in the other. He had passed by a convenience store on his way home to purchase dinner. His parents had called him just as he had left the library, saying they would be out working late. How convenient that they always had a late night on the same evenings, but he tried not to dwell on those.
He was looking down, kicking a pebble as he trudge on home. He looked up when he heard footsteps that were fast approaching and before he could even think of the inevitable, another person had collided with him and he fell to the ground.
“Goddamm-”
“Hey, are you okay? I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to hit you. There was too much momentum and I couldn’t stop in time.”
The person continued apologizing even as he picked up Inukai’s plastic bag and school bag. The stranger finally noticed that Inukai was still sitting on the ground with a raised eyebrow. He drop the plastic bag and school bag once more.
Inukai inwardly winced, There goes my dinner, he thought. At least his glasses didn’t fall off his face.
He grabbed unto Inukai’s arm and pulled him up. “My apologies again,” he said with a slight bow of his head. He grabbed Inukai’s things from the ground and handed them back. “If you’ll please excuse me,” he ran again.
Inukai watched him go, his face expressionless. When the guy rounded the corner, he sighed. He looked into the plastic bag and let out a ‘tsk.’
He was about to walk away, when a notebook on the ground caught his eye. He bent down to pick it up. It must have belonged to that guy, he thought. It was useless going after him now. He decided that maybe he should just throw it away or something, after all, it was justice for ruining his dinner.
But what was written on the front of the notebook intrigued him.

“Huh,” he huffed, “interesting way to title your notebook.”
