Out of the sickness, into the... eh.

I have been sick for the last week. Tonsilitis, to be exact. My throat has swelled shut a couple of times and I'm on antibiotics. Currently, I feel alright, but I cannot talk. This delights certain people, but for me it is very much a downer. My mouth tends to get me in trouble, though, and I'm glad my ability to offend and say stupid shit I don't really mean has been curtailed. Maybe laryngitis is a good thing after all.

In other news, I am considering cashing in some otptions I have and buying a condo. The price is a good one, but honestly I was going to wait until the end of the year (when I would have substantially more money to put down) to purchase. That said, interest rates are starting to rise, and I want to lock in a good rate and price now rather than later. I dunno. My financial plans never seem to follow the course I want them to, but c'est la vie.

This all came up unexpectedly during my current hunt for a place to live. I hate throwing away money on rent, but I have officially reached the end of my rope with my current living arrangements. Anyway, as I was out hunting for a place, I found a lovely apartment building right next to my school. It was a nice two bedroom place, 1100 or so sq. ft., new building, quiet neighbors. What was the rent, you ask? $1624, no utils included.

FUCK. THAT. SHIT.

The thing is, a lot of spaces aroud where I want to live are like that. I have zero desire to move into some shit hole in uptown or nordeast, and I'm not going to move from one suburb to another suburb just for shits and giggles. $1624 is a FUCKING MORTGAGE PAYMENT. If I am going to end up paying 1250+ in rent for a two bedroom, I'll just drop into debt and get a place that I can actually fucking OWN, thank you very much.

*phew*

I have a lot to think about, dear readers. Let me rest some more.
