The wedding ceremony couldn't have happened on a prettier day.  It was bright, and sunny with just a hint of morning chill that was slowly being erased by the sun that was steadily climbing higher in the sky.  The location had been chosen for its elegance and it's intimate atmosphere.  In the corner a quartet set up and played a soft wedding march ( Read more... )

The wedding was beautiful. Stella squeezed Don's hand as she sat next to him for the ceremony. This was the first wedding they'd attended as a couple. She loved being married to Don and she was delighted that Mac and Peyton were so happy with each other.

She laughed quietly at Mac's blush when he kissed Peyton. She knew he wasn't much for public displays of affection.

After everyone had made their way over to the reception, Stella found the bride and groom. She hugged them both.

"Congratulations!"

Pulling back from the embrace, Peyton continued to smile big. She was beyond happy and it showed both in her eyes and on her mouth.

"Thank you, Stella." she laughed softly. "Thank you so much for coming, it means so much to us."

"I wouldn't miss it," she assured Peyton. "I'm so happy for both of you. Being married is one of the most wonderful things in the world. I'm glad you and Mac are finally getting to find that out."

Peyton looked at her friend with a measure of emotion and hugged her again. "I truely appreciate those sentiments, Stella." she spoke near her ear and finally pulled back again. "You have no idea just how much they mean to me."

"You and Mac are two of my favorite people, I hope you're both very happy."

She blinked back the tears that threatened to spill. She'd never cried this easily before, but apparently her pregnancy hormones were in full swing. "You look beautiful today, Peyton."

Mac accepted the hug and gave Stella a brief kiss on the cheek before pulling back and letting Peyton speak, she was better at that, more charming and diplomatic. That's why this would work. Mac had no problem being the muscle sometimes.

Don would have went with Stella to congratulate Mac and Peyton except Stella promised him he could get hammered if he wanted and while he didn't mind not drinking these last few months, if she was going to allow it, he sure as hell was going to do it. So, while Stella went to see the bride and groom, Don headed for the open bar, frowning at the champagne but guessing he'd just start there.

Grabbing a glass, he headed over and slipped his arm around Stella's waist and raised his glass.

"Congratulations!"

Pulling back, she smiled at Mac. She'd known him a long time. She had almost given up hope of ever seeing him this happy again, but she was so very glad to be wrong. Peyton was good for Mac, just as he was good for her. They would be happy together, of that Stella was sure.

Stella smiled softly at Don as she saw him come up beside her. He had been so sweet over the past few months, assuring her that he didn't need to drink, but she knew he missed it. She was glad he had a chance to enjoy a little bit. If she wanted some, she'd just enjoy the taste of it on his tongue later.

Despite having a very hard policy on PDA he kept an arm around Stella until Don came up and took his rightful place. The sight of the detective with the glass of champagne made him smile and he lifted his own glass in response to the cheers. "Thank you, Don, I'm glad you and Stella could make it."

After another sip he realized that loosening up really wasn't that bad.

"Wouldn't have missed it, Mac." Don said with a smile and another tip of his glass. It had been about three or four months since he'd had any alcohol at all and it didn't take him long to finish that glass. "You ready for another one?" he asked Mac, ready to head over to the bar for another one.

Peyton grinned when Don arrived and then when he took his place beside Stella, she smiled that much more.

"Thank you, Don."

Don was all smiles as he slipped his hand around Stella's waist and nodded his head at Peyton.

"Nice ceremony and reception.
