The wedding ceremony couldn't have happened on a prettier day.  It was bright, and sunny with just a hint of morning chill that was slowly being erased by the sun that was steadily climbing higher in the sky.  The location had been chosen for its elegance and it's intimate atmosphere.  In the corner a quartet set up and played a soft wedding march ( Read more... )

The day was amazingly perfect in every way. Months had gone into planning, half of the last minute details taken care of from London but when the day finally arrived and Peyton took one last look in the mirror and realized she couldn't wait to see Mac ( ... )

Looking over at her he gave her a tender smile and picked up two glasses of champagne from a passing waiter. He handed one of them to her and then slipped an arm around her waist. "That's detective husband to you," he gave her a slow smile just looking at her and marveling at how beautiful she looked in her dress.

She beamed and her eyes showed his favorite smile. She raised her glass, clinking it lightly to his before nodding happily as her arm slid around his lower back. "To forever starting."

He clinked his glass against hers and gave a nod to her toast. "To a well run, efficiently run wedding without a hitch insight." He was a bit more pragmatic with his toast. To make up for it he bowed his head and gave her a very light kiss. In his mind it was okay to show such affection since it was his wedding and now she was officially his wife.

"Of course." she offered with a soft laugh before tilting her head just a bit for that kiss. When he pulled back a bit, she locked her vibrant green eyes to his happily. "I don't think it comes as a surprise to our guests how beautiful things turned out." she offered with a laugh while looking around.

"Or how beautiful you look," he told her very seriously. There was a momentary pause before he continued, almost if he was unsure. "You stepped out and I couldn't take my eyes off of you. You are the most beautiful bride I've ever seen." It meant his words seriously and he looked at her as if he was afraid to touch her lest she break in half when he did so.

Leaning down he kissed her shoulder very lightly with a smile.

Mac Taylor had told her before that she was beautiful but today, hearing those words touched deeper. Alot deeper. Peyton didn't take her eyes off him, her eyes starting to fill with emotion as she put her hand securely in whatever hand she could take of his and tightened.

"Thank you, my love." she smiled, blinking slowly to take in the simple joy of feeling the affection he was giving to her.

He took a longer drink before abandoning the glass on the nearest table and offering a hand to her. "Would you dance with me? I promise I will not step on your toes." He thought about this promise and then nodded a little bit. "Yes, I can make that promise."

With a small laugh, she too set her glass down and slid her hand gracefully into his. "I doubt you have to worry." she smiled and walked with him to the dance floor set in the middle of the tables. "You've gotten quite good since I returned."

With the band playing softly, Peyton turned to her husband while a voice alerted the guests of their first dance and immediately dissolved into a rendition of "At Last" by Etta James.

"You know," he said taking her hand and stepping close, one arm wrapping around her waist as he looked down at her with a smile. "This song implies that we've been waiting for such a long time, it's only been a couple of years. Relative to the life span of a red wood or a turtle, it's only a drop in the bucket."

Slowly he started to sway and move with her in time with the music.

That ever so endearing Peyton smile never once left her lips. Technically, he was right, but she saw it more romantic than he did - the hopeless romantic that she was. "I suppose it all depends on how you look at it, Detective." she nestled against his chest, peering up at him. "To me, it's been a long time to now and finally to this moment."

"Leave it to you to ruin a perfectly bad attempt at logic during a romantic." He didn't sigh dramatically but it was implied. Pulling her closer her made sure not to step on the edge of her beautiful dress as he continued to move with her, a slow gentle sway. "I'll try not to ruin any more romantic moments."
