Twelfth Action [Action - open to Schuldig only]

Sep 04, 2010 08:58

[Schuldig, are you awake yet? Because if you are, you will find a young woman fast asleep next to you, wearing some sort of provocative outfit. Her red hair drooped over her shoulders, a peaceful look on her angelic face - for the moment, she is blissfully unaware of what is going on]

[Schuldig wakes up in a haze of confusion - not just his own, but the confusion of quite a number of people around him in similar situations. Unfortunately, with no one around who has any better idea of what's going on than he does, his telepathy offers him no real advantage at the moment, save from what cruel enjoyment he can derive from the chaos and panic around him...which is unfortunately tempered by his being caught in the same trap as everyone else.

He can't really complain about the eye candy on the bed, however. He studies her as he rips off his clip-on tie and tosses it across the room; he hates formal wear nine times out of ten.]

[Dahlia begins to stir. She can feel something vibrating beneath her. Eventually, she opens her eyes to find some man she has never met before staring at her and her eyes widen....Who-?!]

[Schuldig smirks at her.] Oh, good, you're up. Seems like we might as well get acquainted.

[Dahlia immediately sits up - there is something rather sinister about that man with the way he smirks at her. She glances around the room - the candle in the room, the satin sheets, the dress she was wearing - it was not in a situation that she had not been in before, having taken a few gullible men to such places herself in the past.

Only this time, she did not remember making such an arrangement with anyone recently. She instantly becomes suspicious - did this man, whoever he was, bring her here?]

Don't look at me; I didn't have a thing to do with this. [To be entirely fair to Schuldig, he doesn't even need telepathy to expect her to be suspicious of the situation, or him in general. Frankly, with the way he grins, people tend to be wary of him no matter what circumstances they meet under.] I don't think we're the only ones in this situation, either.

[At first, with that grin on his face, she did not believe him. However, he then said "I don't think we're the only ones in this situation, either". She glanced around once more - if it was not him then could it have been Mayfield? It was certainly possible but that did not mean that this man was lying. She turned back to the man and finally spoke] You....do you know where we are, exactly?

My guess would be that hotel that appeared a few days ago. The town seems to give a few days' warning in advance when something changes before it really makes a move. [Schuldig heads over to the window, leaning an arm against it and peering out.] The location looks about right, too.

I don't suppose there's any point in wondering why we're stuck here, although the question of the hour is why I'm stuck here with you. [He glances over his shoulder at her.] I don't even know who you are.

Really? [She also goes up to the window and peers out. He was right - it really did look like that hotel that appeared a few days ago. Maybe this man is telling the truth]

We're stuck here...? [She immediately starts to pretend to be frightened] Y-you mean we can't leave?

[Schuldig glances sidelong at her as the dichotomy between her feelings and her behavior becomes suddenly and acutely evident, then gives her a wicked grin.] That seems to be the case with everyone else, though I haven't tested it personally yet. But if we are, it'd save us both a lot of time for you to play straight with me. Normally I'd have hours of fun pretending that you're fooling me, but it's just going to complicate things.

Though as one confidence artist to another...you're a hell of an actor. I could never get looking innocent down.

Fooling you? Th-there is no way I'd ever do that, sir! [Oh shit -maybe she should not have looked suspiciously at him earlier

But she's not backing down yet] Oh dear, I must have given you the wrong impression earlier. I can have a nasty temper, sometimes. [Now, if it were the judge, he would probably believe her instantly, but alas...]

Sir, yet? Now I'd know even if I didn't have my ways. No one's ever looked at this grin and said 'sir' without sarcasm.

Well, I'm afraid you're mistaken. I'd never be sarcastic about something like that. I wasn't brought up to be so rude!

[Schuldig rolls his eyes. It seems like he's going to have to lay his cards on the table before she'll stop trying to hide hers...] Let's try this again, shall we? Hello, I'm Schuldig, and I'm a telepath. You're not fooling me. [He whispers the last words directly into her mind even as his voice echoes them out loud, just to curtail any disbelief.]

[With the way he spoke in her mind just now....oh, god, another mind-reading freak?! It was not the first one she came across but it did not horrify or annoy her any less]
