[001 - Audio] It's almost like a bad hangover...

Jul 21, 2011 10:13

[It isn't that she woke up in an unfamiliar forest that throws Rose for a loop. She had been traveling back to the Homelands, along with just about every other Fable who had been in the mundy world. Haven was supposed to have a huge, magical grove along its borders, so forests were to be expected. No, it was the fact that she woke up, when she ( Read more... )

Now that sounds familiar. Except I usually wake up with wings and just no memory of what I did to fall asleep like that.

Welcome to Luceti Miss. It's a whole different world. Good news is that isn't quite as scary as that generally sounds.

[Rogue said the place is worse that it seems, and this guy says it's scarier than it sounds...which means Rose will just have to form her own opinion.]

Familiar in the same way or are we talking about something more like narcolepsy?

But thanks for the welcome. Name's Rose Red.

[Obviously for the best. Marco comes from a warzone where he gets to watch his family hunted, so yeah, this is a nice reprieve and all. Plus "New World" has worse connotations in his world. Weirdly.]

You're a narcoleptic? You wouldn't be related to anyone named "Portgas" would you?
-- In my case it's more a matter of needing to be more careful about drinking partners.

Nice name, very imagery evoking, eh?

No, I was asking if you were narcoleptic, but it sounds like you're more like me.

[Rose gives him a short laugh.]

But thanks, I've gotten pretty attached to the name myself. Do you have one as well or should I make something up?

Guess so. I actually have a friend who's narcoleptic though. And then about about a thousand drunk friends, so that kind of overwhelms the odds come to think.

I'm Marco. Nice to meet you Red.

Well, Marco, those overwhelming odds sound like the makings of an entertaining evening at least.

How many of those friends came here with you?

[Because Rose has only found one of hers, and it'd be interesting to know how common that is.]

The best kind.

None. I found one here I thought I'd never see again, but he's gone missing. [He can't say "got sent home" under the circumstances.] His little brother and some of his crew are here though, so I'm looking after them in replacement. [Like a far distant guard that is basically unnecessary here...]

Sorry to hear your friend is missing. Any chance he'll come back?

[It's all she can do not to ask him several questions. How often people show up. How often they disappear. If he's noticed any patterns. Any information that might help her get a better sense of how things are being run in Luceti.]

Possibly. His brother said it's happened twice before. I guess the Malnosso couldn't make up their minds about whether they wanted him here or not.

[He will do his best to answer, and probably just send her to the library if he can't.]

That's odd, all things considered.

[It wasn't enough information to suit Rose, but then she still had a rather large guide to read, thanks to Rogue.]

Is their behavior always this unpredictable? Bringing people back and forth at will like they do?

[audio] fierybluebird July 23 2011, 23:18:26 UTC
Very much so.

And yes, they're very unpredictable about who they bring, who leaves, and what "shifts" will happen. Supposedly there's a New Feather influx about every two months, but every so often there aren't any at all, I guess just to confuse everyone.

New Feather? Is that what they call us?

[It was cute. Quaint, even.]

Still, that sort of thing makes makes it difficult on those of us who don't want to stick around here long.

[She's not resigning herself to a long stay so quickly, that's for sure.]

Cute, right? [The bird-guy would think it's cute...]

Extremely difficult, but from what I understand, they try not to make it easy on us.

Very cute.

I guess it's too much to hope for that our kidnappers make it easy for us to escape by being predictable.

I'm partial to it anyway.

If it were that easy, I've no doubt that we wouldn't be brought here at all.

Hm, true. And anything worth doing or having is never easy. At least by the time we figure a way out of here we'll fully appreciate it.
