[001 - Audio] It's almost like a bad hangover...

[It isn't that she woke up in an unfamiliar forest that throws Rose for a loop. She had been traveling back to the Homelands, along with just about every other Fable who had been in the mundy world. Haven was supposed to have a huge, magical grove along its borders, so forests were to be expected. No, it was the fact that she woke up, when she ( Read more... )

This situation doesn't have anything to do with a fantastic party in the slightest, I can tell you that much.

And you're probably pretty far away from this 'Haven' now. This is Luceti.

That's what I've been learning, which is a shame.

[Rose would take a party over being kidnapped by scientists any day. Of course, if she had a choice at all she'd be in Haven with the rest of the Fables.]

Does anyone know how they managed to take us from so far away?

I'm not sure.. Although they have the ability to influence all of us quite a bit, as they seem to regularly carry out experiments on us as well.

[ It's easy to hear from her tone that the idea doesn't particularly excite her. ]

[The idea definitely doesn't excite Rose either, and she wonders to herself if perhaps her being a Fable is part of why she's been brought there.]

What kind of influence and experiments are we talking about here?

They're capable of kidnapping people randomly from this place to perform some sort of tests on them. Sometimes also strange things start happening in the village.. Like people behaving different from usual and all those sort of bothersome things.

[So, they were all guinea pigs, but if there was a greater purpose at hand, it wasn't readily apparent to Rose.]

Great. Sounds like there are all sorts of things to look forward to.

I'm Rose Red, by the way.

Yeah, absolutley great things. Life's one big party here.

[ The sarcasm in her tone is really apparent. ]

I'm Ange. Ushiromiya Ange.

It's not a problem.. If we're all going to be stuck in this hellhole, we might as well inform new people of what's waiting for them.

[The way she says it makes it sound as if there's nothing to be done to counter what lies ahead. The concept doesn't sit easily with Rose, who's more of a doer than a sit-back-and-let-things-happen kind of girl.]

No one's been able to get in their way or stop them? Even just once?

... I have to admit I don't even know that for sure.

[ She shrugs, even if it can't be seen. ]

I'm sure someone must have tried somewhere along the line, but I've only been here for about two months now, so I can't say I experienced one of the attempts.

[Well, it looked like Rose had some investigating to do. There were a at least a couple dozen questions she had, and she needed to find someone who had the answers. Jack was a start, but there were people who had been in Luceti longer, apparently.]

Hmm, thanks anyway, Ange. I guess I'll have to look into things a bit more.

Sounds like a plan.. You might want to talk to someone who has been here longer.

[ Ange figures she probably came to that conclusion too already, but just in case.. ]

Good luck, either way.

I think I will. Thanks again.

[She'll be in touch if she learns anything, because one good turn deserves another.]
