[milliways_bar] Application

Chad Danforth is a very level-headed teenager who appears to know what he wants from life and the world around him. But when Troy Bolton, his best friend and teammate, deserts him for his new girlfriend, Gabriella, Chad is left behind. He feels displaced, and we see him thrown off-kilter in the second film. It becomes clear that while he is infatuated with his friend and classmate, Taylor McKessie, the relationship is pretty well destined to go nowhere as she is often dismissive of him, and after high school, they both want distinctly different things. Chad (the way I've been playing him) has applied early-action to the University of Albuquerque, New Mexico, in hopes of receiving a basketball scholarship. He is also becoming progressively closer to Ryan Evans, as played by notapoodle, as Sharpay dismisses her twin in much the same fashion as Taylor and Troy have been writing Chad off. This forges an unlikely bond between the two boys as they both feel "second-best."

I am playing him here to strengthen this shaky bond. This will lead into a sexual relationship, and perhaps, eventually, something romantic. When Chad comes out of the closet or Ryan stops being a slut, whichever comes first. Because of his athletic endeavors, however, Chad is very much in denial about his attraction to other males. He believes that if others so much as suspect, any hopes he has of becoming a professional basketball player in the NBA will be dashed. Because of this, he will admit to himself that he likes Ryan because he is Ryan, and overlook the sexuality question altogether - often changing the subject when Evans brings it up.

Though Chad is often sarcastic, quirky, and even occasionally eccentric, he is fundamentally kind to his core and believes in doing whatever he can to help his fellow man. Even when he is not treated in the best way, he will still help and do what he can. This is not to say, however, that he won't get defensive or upset. But he is usually quick to forgive. He lives in a somewhat naive Disney construct in which everyone he meets is as well-intentioned as himself. This can leave him open and vulnerable to emotional attack. This said, he will do just about anything to prove his "tough" "manliness" and as a result, will not display these weaknesses though he may be obviously hurting just under the surface,

In other words: he's sensitive.

He's a jock through-and-through and often denounces singing, dancing, theater, and anything else Ryan likes that may be construed as "girly" or "gay" or may in some other way, emasculate him, at least in his own eyes. When involved in music, however, he appears happier than in any of the other scenes. Ryan tries to prove to him in High School Musical 2 that dancing is really, just like baseball or any other sport. As such, he will often deny dancing or singing in his free time and become extremely defensive when the topic is breeched. Though he undoubtedly has moves, he will claim to the contrary and say that he not only will not dance, but that he cannot.

Chad is probably the most fun I've had RPing in a very long time, and I want to bring him to Milliways. His cannonmates and friends are here, and I have been RPing with some of the muns here for ages already on sixwordstories and personal journals. I have been considering apping to MB for the longest time and only now do I feel I have a character that would truly fit in. I hope you do agree, and if you need anything else, please don't hesitate to ask.

mways, ryan, app
