Quasi-friend
Suspicion
Witch
Morrigan
When Flemeth, the great Asha'bellanar, eluded to a daughter, Fenris had been intrigued. Now, to have met said daughter, the mystery and intrigue of her did nothing to sate his curiosity. He knows she is a witch, most likely of immense power, but also sees in her a very strong will. Bethany has a will much like that, and Fenris respects it.
Not only that, but she amuses him. She's keen-minded, sharp-tongued, and curious about the world around her. In short, Fenris is intrigued by Morrigan, and would very much like to continue speaking with her.
Teacher
Intriguing
Mitsuru Kirijo
Fenris was immediately impressed upon meeting Mitsuru. She's professional, organized, and driven; things he has absolutely admires in her. He was disappointed to learn she wasn't the leader of this place, but has since decided there is no leader and has stopped worrying so much about it.
He doesn't feel he deserves the respect she shows him, and knowing what the -san means she insists on attaching to his name, it makes him uncomfortable, but he shrugs it off, even if he feels it isn't warranted. He's grateful beyond measure for her teaching him letters and how to read, and wants to figure out how to repay her.
Reminder
Friend?
Marian Hawke
What he sees in Marian confuses him, saddens him, and makes him smile. There are times when she says and reacts to things in exactly the same way as 'his' Marian, and it breaks his heart every time he has to see it. At the same time, he's starting to realize it's possible she really is Marian, just Marian if she had been born a mage.
She's certainly a mage he can respect, and there are precious few of them. She actually reminds him quite a bit of her sister, Bethany, whom he holds in very high regard. He can't allow himself to think too much on the possibility of her being Marian as he knows her, simply with a different upbringing. The thought is much too painful.
He finds her very touching, heart-warming really, and heart-wrenching at the same time, and it leaves him confused. At any given moment, he wants to speak with her, and never wants to speak with her again. It's a tumult of emotions he's not familiar with, so it leads to him doing nothing.
Confusion
Amusing
Zevran Arainai
Not having interacted with him much, Fenris doesn't have much to say about Zevran other than he is alternately completely amused by him and utterly annoyed. He's attractive enough, but Fenris finds himself disappointed in Zevran's lack of honor. He doesn't seem to be picky at all in whom he takes to bed, and that...slightly disgusts Fenris.
On the whole, he finds him amusing, though, so he lets it slide.
Inspiration
Friend
Confidant
Sebastian Vael
At first, Fenris was very confused about Sebastian. He was kind to him when he shouldn't be, and gave him far more respect than he felt a killer like him deserved. After traveling with him, and spending more time with him, though, he found Sebastian's words weren't the empty preachings of just any brother of the Chantry, but that he actually meant everything he said.
What touched Fenris the most deeply was his words about sin. That actions committed under duress were the sins of the masters, not the slaves. It made him start thinking there might actually be something in him worth saving. Further, he started actually believing the Maker had helped him get free, had lead him the Hawke, whom he loves very deeply even if he feels currently unworthy of the love she wants to return to him.
He feels a bond with Sebastian, of common belief and common opinion, and truly enjoys his company, and also feels he owes him for the sense of self-worth he's harbored in him.
Friend
Companion
Varric Tethras
If we were to put into modern terms what Fenris thinks about Varric, it would be "bros". He feels at ease around the smooth-talking dwarf, enjoying just hanging out with him, and bantering with him, and generally just, well, chilling for lack of a better word.
Immediately he liked Varric simply for his eccentric statements and flippant remarks, and then he started actually spending time with him. More than anything Fenris likes not having to be reserved or elusive around the dwarf, and he considers him a very close friend because of it. He can simply be himself and not have to worry about being judged or seeming 'strange'. He actually has fun spending time with Varric, and that's something he's never really had time to do before.
Blood Mage
Etienne Cohen
Bearing in mind that the more he talks to Etienne, the more he reminds Fenris of a young Danarius, the desire to rip his heart out is pretty high on the list. He considered Etienne to be pompous, over-bearing, over-confident, annoying, unclean (as in he probably smells), repulsive, just the right amount of depraved to warrant seething hatred.
Just the fact that the term "slave" doesn't make Etienne balk, as it does people in countries where slavery is illegal, tells him that Etienne's people probably keep them too, and he wouldn't be surprised if the mage owns at least one himself. Which just makes him hate him more.
Acquaintance
Warden Cousland
He doesn't know Cousland very well, but from the few conversations he has had, she's very laid back but directed (and that confuses him also), likes having a good time (which is something he's slowly learning how to do himself), and values the time she's been given. He attributes the latter to being dead, but he's not really counting.
In short, he enjoys talking to her, and hanging out with her, and would like to continue to do so.
