An Update

It has been a while since a good post, so I will take this time to explain the recent goings-ons with XM Radio. Previously I spoke of a Zane channel existing on the service, but this is no longer true. XM tossed out the channel. Recently added, however, were the MLB channels. The 24/7 MLB channel is great, and the broadcasts of EVERY MLB game to be played this year will make the monthly fee very much worth it. My only concerns with this is the handling of which feed you receive for a game. Does the home team, on a given night, get the rights to the broadcast? I suppose that is how its handled, there is no reason to have 30 channels when the maximum amount of games in one day/night is 15.

Now the real downside is this. Before, a subscriber had the choice of picking up the "Premium" channels for an added fee. These channels being the Playboy channel and some channel that plays a shock jock morning show type program, and XM Online . Choices are great for those that wish to pick them up, but now all subscribers are being forced to pick up the option of the shock jocks and XM Online. It is veiled in this frail explaination: ". . . sowe are forced to increase your monthly subscription price, however, you will now be getting Oppie and Anthony AND XM Online for free", or something along those lines. Um, no. I could live without both, and keep my $3.00 a month extra that they are costing me.

Other news? We are giving Netflix a test drive. Being that we live 50 miles from their nearest dvd warehouse, a person would think you could send a movie back on Tuesday and get one back by Friday. No sir. The selection they offer is close to incredible, though they lack the Mouse and his Child and Unico in the Magic Island.

Speaking of the Mouse and his Child, I found a cheap dvd on Ebay. By cheap, I really and truly mean cheap. Our dvd player rejected it, but we are lucky to have an accepting dvd rom drive on the old desktop. I remember seeing the Mouse and his Child when I was very young. Until one week ago, I had no idea what the name of the movie was. Years have passed but I always remembered the movie, its main characters, and its premise, but I had no hope of finding out what it was titled much less any hope of seeing it again. Another movie I remember from the days of young was "Unico in the Magic Island." I had even less memory of this film, but I did remember some specific scenes. Attempting to uncover the mystery of a movie you barely remember is a very difficult undertaking. With some help from IMDB (for finding the name of the film) and Ebay, I found the Mouse and his Child. I was lamenting on the search that lay ahead for the other movie, until I clicked on the "sellers other items" link. Ebay is the greatest thing ever. I can't wait to see Unico again.

Onto other bits of information:

The perfect amalgamation of science and nature is the mighty Tangelo. No citrus fruit can hold a candle to this magnificent Frankenstein of a fruit, not only because of their lack of appendages but also of their inability to be packed to the rind with awesome.
