Title: Counting Down To Another Day

Summary: It’s not that he trusts Eames completely or anything that ridiculous. It’s just that they’ve worked together before, know each other more than peripherally, and it’s sometimes good to have a familiar face around while Cobb goes even more off the rails and off the grid.
When he wakes up and notices that Eames is gone, Arthur doesn’t think much of it. He takes a tepid shower, checks his email while trying not to be too frustrated with the connection speed, and starts getting ready for the day. It’s nothing but mundane until, of course, Eames walks in on him ironing his trousers, which means he isn’t wearing them.
Arthur clenches the handle of the iron and feels Eames’s eyes taking in the scene, taking in him- frowning there in a crisp white shirt, gray boxer-briefs, stocking feet.
“Sock suspenders,” Eames notes. He doesn’t appear to be making fun of him. “Arthur,” he says, “that is precious.”
This is back when Arthur and Cobb first went on the run...or rather when Cobb went on the run and dragged Arthur with him. I like that mix of newbie yet still totally capable that the author gives us with Arthur. I like how much I can feel all the stuff that Arthur feels, his annoyed frustration, his longing for Eames. He seems so young here, it's sweet.
Personal note: I'm not going to be cross-posting my recs anymore. I'm still going to be following the people I'm following on LJ but my own content is only going to be going on the Dreamwidth site. If you end up following me on Dreamwidth then I'll see you over there and if not then I hope you guys enjoyed a heap of awesome recs from me over the years and tried some fandoms/stories that you might have missed otherwise:)
