Tomorrow is the day of days...

Tomorrow will be my last day at The Children's Museum, Seattle. For the last three months I've endured a rollercoaster of politics, hushed conversations, clandestine meetings, and a crazy high stress level; all because the woman running the organization is a bad leader and a very bad manager of staff and of organizational policies and relationships in the community. I don't want to go into everything, but she and a few of her underlings have managed to poison my attitude towards a place that I used to be idealistic about. Supposedly, the museum is an educational resource for the community, a place where families and children can learn together, and the "foremost early childhood educational organization in the nation". Now I can honestly say that that is a bunch of bull.

My first serious, professional foray into the Seattle non-profit scene has been educational, but it has also completely burned me out. So I'm going to nanny for two little babies, and spend my days, reading, singing nursery songs, and warming up bottles. And I plan to enjoy it. After I relax a bit and regroup, I'll start back up again. AND I'm going to do some real homework on any organization I apply to work at in the future.
