So I was supposed to meet someone at a coffeehouse at 4pm, so I decided that it would be nice to leave a little early and get a little reading done. So I read a chapter from philosophy who needs it before something caught my eye, it was something very simple just some light shining through a glass of tea, created a nice golden tint. I then ( Read more... )

beauty isn't math, beauty can be explained with math, i would rather not live in a world where beauty is something as cold and lifeless as math

i was never able to understand math in school because it seemed dry, hard, and cold. i just didn't want to learn it. i wanted to read kerouac instead.

i still can't understand math, because even though poetry doesn't lack math, math lacks poetry to me.

what i'm saying is, i agree with you.

Plato and the Theory of Forms. But, not really. Just a thought and a stab with ancient Greek philosophy. By the way, the Philosophy Club could use some more minds -- especially those of whom aren't only in 101. I know you're busy, but you know, you could come to one meeting. Just one.

Have you ever heard of the magic ratios? The ratios of parts on the human beings that make people sexually appealing.

I wouldn't say that math controls beauty, since beauty shifts, but I will say that if you look at anything long enough you can find a mathmatical principle that relates to it. Pi comes to mind.

Beauty is far too subjective and so is the human mind. Yes, there are some constants, but even then there are exceptions.

People have gone crazy thinking about the relationship of things in the univers. I say don't worry about it. I stick with just trying to apply Chaos Theory and that takes enough time as it is.
