Thanks! I think Dean would only be able to conceive of the idea that John might die after the real danger of that was passed. Almost like the fear showing up after the need to fear is gone ... a survival instinct, maybe?

All tension and setting Dad on fire. Dean trying to cope with the magnitude of what he had to do. Ending with the diner, quiet and peaceful. Such a contrast. Brilliant.

Ahhhhhh, man.
Poor little boys. So damn *scared* and the utter awfulness of Dean cauterizing the wound and...

*shudder*

And Kelly kicking ass and getting people in gear, that's good. Taking the weight now that Dean just *can't* anymore.

I kinda of empathized with Dean a little in just wanting to lie down on the floor at this point and watch John breathe. ;D

I'll admit it. The image of Dean lying there counting the time between John's breaths had me in tears.

That was actually one of the images that made me need to write this sequel ... the idea of what Dean would have done after he ignited John but before John woke up in the hospital ... that counting breathing kept hitting me in the WRITE bone.
