SPN Fic: Replacing Mary (Gen, PG13)

I wrote this because it is what happens when someone puts a challenge to me like "secrets" after Kripke has messed with me to this deep a degree. And because I'm evil. Let me know what y'all think.

Thanks so much. I'm not sure how much of my intention to imply came through on this because I wanted to keep it all very below-the-line rather than actually being clear about it; but very much the repetion of John going down Dean's road was intended to imply that both of them had been influenced to bad end in St. Louis by the demon. And that Jess didn't leave Sam so much as his future was taken from him.

And very much the idea that John pursing vengeance for lost love in the form of an obsessive quest might have actually been their salvation; whereas a more "normal" choice to get his kids a mom and raise them "normally" might have actually been the void the demon was looking to create.

Create a need so it would be there to fill it. And with Dean at such a vulnerable age and Sam not yet bonded to his mother in a way it couldn't break to supplant itself in that role, this would be the time to replace Mary if you were looking to turn Sam to this end. And that John's failure of character in being willing to settle for something less than love just to raise his kids would have been a fatal flaw for not only himself, but for both of his sons and the whole world, too.

Cause, you know, John is the chamption of the world, right? ;)
