The French Mistake

Okay, if you're going to blow the hell out of the fourth wall, THAT's the way to do it. Very, very, very funny, Ben. Thank God you're back in the AAH/TE/BD@BR zone again.

Best line of the night? "I need to figure out her name." (perfect timing, Jared!)

Best pop reference of the night? The beat-by-beat homage to The Terminator in the gun shop. Brilliant.

Best expression of the night? Jensen not quite being able to not-laugh on the hit-your-mark shtick.

Whole episode was not only perfectly written, it was also fantabulously timed to hit every joke square on the beat. Jen, Jared, Gen and Misha were all perfect. And hilarious. And it don't get any better than Sebastian Roche (without going Mark Shepard). Only thing missing was a turn around the dance floor with Jim Beaver.

Amongst the funniest moments, not counting the ones already cited:

Gen: Yeah. Because that never gets old.

Sam: Padalecki. I'm pretty sure.

Misha: Ola, Mishamigos.

Jared and Gen's real wedding photo.

The Days of Our Lives YouTube clip.

Dean: That's the way he does it.

Everything Balthazar said.

Dean: What, you're Polish?

Bob Singer: He sold Octocobra?

The freeze-frame on the second through-the-window shot.

Sam: At least we're talking.

Clap Your Hands was everything that is wrong about a self-indulgent, self-aware, nudge-nudge-wink-wink solely humor-based episode. Bad Day at Black Rock and Changing Channels were everything that is RIGHT about the same kind of episode. This episode? Joins the list of the latter, not the former. It is so good, in fact, that it alone justifies the existence of a sixth season (which is not to say it is the only episode this season worth watching, but rather that even if all the other episodes sucked pond water, S6 would still be justified on only the strength of The French Mistake.
