this gave me chills. damn. it's a perfect third. and yeah, sam couldn't kill the demon because he knew his dad was still in there, but mostly because dean didn't want him to. i think that just as dean looked up to john all his life, sam looked up to dean, and he'd never knowingly let his brother down.
but mostly because dean didn't want him to.I've thought a lot about this and I think the only reason Sam didn't shoot was because Dean was pleading with him not to. If Dean was unconscious, I'm convinced John and the Demon would be dead; because I think Sam totally was capable of doing what had to be done, and I think he totally understood that there was nothing in the universe his dad wanted more than to have that Demon killed -- something he was MORE than willing to sacrifice his life to accomplish

Hi, I just read your 3 ficlets and wanted to say I loved them all. Great emotions and it reads really true from each perspective. I also enjoyed your little meta in this thread. I agree with everything you said (Sam totally would have pulled the trigger if not for Dean) except I'm not convinced John would have pulled the trigger if Dean was possessed. I think he would have tried to but in the end he wouldn't have been able to pull the trigger (maybe).
Thanks so much. I can be very pessimistic when it comes to John's capacity to put anything before killing that Demon. And part of the reason I love him as a character is that even while I totally think he'd sacrifice either son to kill the Demon, I don't think that means he doesn't love his sons. It totally think he does. I think they are the most important thing in the universe to him. Except kiling that Demon. Which marks him fatally flawed.
But if Kripke and Co go another way, I'll buy that, too. And probably be all celebratey inside, 'cause redemption is my biggest squeee, even when I don't believe it's possible.
Ha! I would never bite you, I promise, so no need to be shy. Welcome.
I'm honored you took the time to translate these into Russian. I appreciate you widening the audience for my stories, and caring enough about them to post them to your site.
Unfortunately, my Russian's a little rusty (which is American polite for I don't speak it at all), but I'm very excited to know you wrote stylizations of them in Russian. That is very flattering, and I appreciate it.
Thanks for speaking up and feel free to join in our conversations any time. Leelust is right -- we never bite around here. My LJ is a no-bite zone.
For the note. She (igrushka13) did great on translation. I mean really great. Your works sound so good on Russian. On english they're good too of course:) But you know, not every text you can translate properly on other language, there's nuances and some detailes and your works sound like they were written on Russian with igrushka13's help.
Thanks for letting me know this. I had no doubt she would do an excellent job. I can't imagine trying to translate my work into another language. So much of what I do is a play on words, and I use words in such an untraditional manner I image I present a bit of a problem in that regard.
Beautiful trilogy! I think you were spot on with the differing POV's on the same incident.
The dynamics between Dean and Sam are what truly drew me to the show (despite the fact I was having nightmares straight from the pit of hell and scaring the crap out of myself on a regular basis the first few weeks. I guess that's what happens when you watch five episodes a day for two weeks straight. heh.)
Anyway, even though my main *squee!* is the relationship between the brothers, you are quickly making me a fan of the John and Dean persuasion.
No better compliment as far as I'm concerned than to draw someone in to the complexities and subtleties of John and Dean's relationship as I see it.
I know what you mean about mainlining the show once you discover it though. I hopped on the train during the mid-season hiatus for S1, so once the DVDs came out? I mainlined the whole first half of the season all in one sitting.
