Thanksgiving Morning Is Magical.
I know, you are thinking - "Wait, Dodger. Don't you mean Christmas morning is magical?"
No. No, I don't.
Because when you wake up on Thanksgiving morning and come out of your room...and there is Christian Kane on your TV playing the guitar - it is a magical day.
I seriously got up and stepped out of my room and there he was. My sister was setting up for family dinner and she put in some Angel episodes. And it was the episode where he gets his evil hand and he had just taken the guitar out of the closet and was strumming it. I stepped out of my room all bleary-eyed and disgruntled at having to get up and smile and be nice - and there he was.
I made this noise, "eepsqueakmmm," and stood there. It was a miracle that I didn't have my morning pee right there in the hallway.
Then I used the bathroom and came out, and he was at Lorne's and he was singing "The LA Song" and OMG!!! It's only like my favoritest! Best Thanksgiving morning ever.
My sister was all, "Oh, you just missed him with his shirt off and I heard you get up and almost paused it."
"No, this is better."
"Better than Shirtless-Christian-Kane?"
"Um, yes. His hands on the guitar? With his fingers? Duh." Does she even know me? :) I mean, they aren't Steve Carlson's fingers or anything, but still...
Sadly, after that I had to go take a shower and thus I missed the whole I-can't-help-myself...I-have-an-evil-hand moment. And the slashy scene of slash where Angel sees him off at the end.
Now that I know that Christian and David are bestest best friends in RL, I can totally imagine Christian going off on his rock tour and David taping a giant sign to the back of his truck that reads, "Cops suck!" It amuses me.
There was also pie making and house cleaning before the party, and then wind down time after the party - so we watched the Thanksgiving ep of Buffy and then Tabula Rasa with Randy Giles - you might as well have named him Horny Giles - and then we watched some Angel eps. Disharmony where Harmony turns up at Cordelia's and Cordy thinks she is a lesbian. And the Halloween episode from Season Five where Lorne tells everyone what to do and Spike is happy all the time and Gunn pees on things! Today we watched the American Duets ep of Psych where Lassie gets a crush on the drugged-out-crazy-woman!!
As anticipated, the only people who asked my sister about her job situation were my grandparents. But since none of the men (ie my dad or the uncles) started a political debate of any kind, I just kept my mouth shut. I was afraid if I mentioned the job situation, one of them would start in about "that's what she gets for being a lazy civil servant".
The Guy Cousin had some seriously messed up reports about the ongoing saga of drama that is his ex-wife and the custody battle of the kids. She is neglectful and abusive to those children and it is a messed up situation and the ones paying are the kids.
In EXCELLENT NEWS - The Cousin, the 15 year old fan-girl that you all hear me talk about, was given the Student of the Month award at her school. She was the only tenth grader who got the award out of the whole school. It was in the newspaper and everything. I am so proud of her. She hates school, but she loves choir and she works hard at her grades. She is such an awesome chick.
This is what her teacher had to say - "She is a very hard working, organized student. Her work is always thoughtful and she puts forth her best effort. She is one of the students who accepts other students regardless of their differences. She is willing to patiently help those around her who have questions. She is an all-around caring and diligent student." And there is a gorgeous picture of her with the article.
I was exhausted by the time it was over, but it went pretty well.
