Yeah, it started during our viewing of Scooby-Doo Zombie Island a while back. My sister and I whispered to each other about which Supernatural character each of the guys would be (big debate on whether Shaggy was Ash or Andy) and how we could turn it into some sort of SPN HS AU Hunter fic.
And ever since then, Scooby-Doo has just been one SPN fic after another in my head. It's all ruined now. Except of course for the part where it totally entertains me while I wait to see if The Nephew will fall asleep or not. And eat my popcorn. Can't have Movie Night without popcorn.
We had a very serious conversation where he declared, "Stormtroopers had to help build The Deathstar too cuz that's their job but Robots can do it faster."
The next day I informed him that my friends on the computer agree that robots helped build the Deathstar.
Your nephew does sound very cool. I'm jealous you get to play with a four year old. Mine's 15 and not the same kind of fun anymore. Good thing he's got you since it sounds like your brother is a stick in the mud.
Also, I would totally read a Scooby-Doo as hard core hunters. That idea sounds fantastic. I wonder if there's anything like that out there?
Well, it's weird, because I raised The Nephew's father when he was about your son's age. My mom worked a lot and I was about 17 and my brother was about 13. I had to deal with things like curfew and smoking and homework and all that 13 year old stuff. And girls. Good lord, the trouble I had with that boy and girls. I had to work and go to school too - you'd think he could be trusted after school for one hour! Geez. He was a really cool kid though. We watched black n white movies and wrote Star Wars fan fic (even though we didn't know what fan fic was at the time) and made mini-movies with our video camera.
I don't know...becoming a dad turned him all old and fuddy. It happened to my older brother too. The older brother was the one that got me into punk rock and music in general and 70s horror movies and all that stuff. Now he's a dad and suddenly no more Adult Swim cartoons, it's all HGTV and home modeling shows.
When you became a parent, it clearly didn't take away your cool, so what's up with my brothers
( ... )
Well thanks, I tried not to loose my cool. I was the only parent in PTA with facial piercings. lol
Some people think parent means putting away 'childish' things. That's bull. Just cuz you have a kid doesn't mean your life is over. You should see my action figure collection.
